In 2004 I started my guide service. At that time it was Yellow Dog Adventures. I aptly named my service after my dog. Hatch is a Yellow Lab. Soon thereafter a more organized guide service registered the name Yellow Dog Fly Fishing Adventures and I changed mine to SershenBros. Below is the original guide service [...]

The trip was keyed in after getting lost hiking down the gulch the week before. Naomi and I decided that we MUST return to this creek and hike it from Wunderlichs to Enterprise. A six mile hike, no worries, Yeah? hahaa. We got together last night in order to mentally convince our selves that we [...]

I decided to get out and blow off some stress today. Fishing is truly my medicine. I had a call late thursday night, it was the kind you hate to get, “Dad is in the hospital, he had emergency surgery earlier today, there were complications, he is back in surgery again.” Man, my favorite guy [...]

I ran into a pink squirrel hatch on always clear creek (garvin) this morning, picked up 4 in a half hour, all about 14 inches. Water temps were a cool 52 so I head to, dare I say, chocolate creek, SBWW., in search of warmer water and light hendricksons. My timing was perfect, 58 degrees, [...]

The carp are spawning. I still managed 3 fish. 2 carp 24 inches, 1 taken on carp candy one on a marabou corn fly, 1 21 in river redhorse on carp candy – she was beat with a large festering wound, I am surprised she even took, maybe an eagle bite, I thought it was [...]

I did not find any cloopers, or fish for that matter, where I expected to find cloopers. I moved to check out a new spot on mud lake. TONS of carp everywhere with a very silty bottom that marks feeding fish. I managed one about 28 inches on the carp killer (tan nymph variant). She [...]

We got over an inch of rain. It mudded up my creek. Still managed to see a few ghosts. Craig and I each hooked and lost one. I landed one, 27″, foul hooked though…the sershen snag streak continues. thanks for the rain!

Day 3 of chumming in the same spot produced 6 fish. 21,22, 23(2), 24, 30. All taken on an orange squirrel and a 4wt. I took 4 fish on one fly and then stuck the fly in my hat! I fished for 2 hours and at the end of the day I started to cast [...]

I got skunked today, but the clear skies and high winds made the fishing really tough, the fish could see me too easy, I couldn;t cast where I wanted to , and the fly did not have enough weight to get down fast enough to the sucker mouths. the winds were 20+mph. I tried a [...]

I got out in search of new carp water today. I found them holding in pre-spawn run numbers near the confluence of the Lake that Pleasant Valley Creek drains into and then channels across highway 61 into mud lake before going into the Mississippi. After chumming about 1 can of sweet corn the fish moved [...]

Fished the main branch and got on around 1. The caddis were off on beaver were I entered. Not too many fish on the WW keyed n the hatch yet. The dog didn;t care for them either, I guess he prefers mayflies. Hlf hour later the hatch was going full bore and the rising started. [...]

Only saw one carp breeching. No feeders or tailers. Cottonwood seeds are dropping, dumped 3 cans of chum near arrow.

2004-04-25_SnakePitCreek

This was a carp scouting mission. I found many carp tailing and feeding in the channel. I also found spawing carpsuckers. Fish were not eager to take flies. Chumming may help. There were many dead shad everywhere and I noticed cream midge flying and there was a mayfly spinner fall.
