Chad and I set out to tangle with some Gar today. We knew where they were and now we just needed to get them to attached to our lines for long enough to put them in a net. We headed out to our backwaters current armed with hookless rope lures and caught several Longnose Gar in a few hours.
The takes varied from subtle to aggressive. Several fish hunted down our rope lures and then refused. We retrieved our rope lures in a jig manner carrying them across the current in 40-feet of water approximately 10 feet down from the top.
