Today I scouted some new water with my girlfriend, her dog, and my buddy Justin, his girlfriend, and his dog. Since we were scouting we did not care to catch fish merely to see them. We saw them.

Picking rocks I found that I should, prior to my return, tie up some size 16 scuds with gray heads and cream butts, more size 20 miracle nymphs, and some size 20 rock worms.

There were considerable amount of net spinning and cased caddis on the rocks in this stream. There were also good numbers of a variety of first instar mayfly nymphs; Baetis, Ephermerlla, and McCaffertum were all discernable. Now its time to pray for decent weather and wait for the nymphs to grow for the next three weeks.
