The black midge were swarming again today!

Time 12:00PM

BWO(Baetis) -30+/per, sz. 18-24++. wing casing developed, fourth instars

Tube Caddis – 25+/per, sz. 18, bright green

Rock Tube Caddis – 5/per

Scuds – 5/per, sz. 16

Blood Midge – 10+/per, sz 22

The midge were coming off and the fish were keyed in on them in slow pools. I noticed fish feeding in lanes in other runs where swarms of midge were flying. My guess is they were taking midge pupae.

No BWO’s. I also noticed the black flies flying again today.
